Junior Edward, of Lansdowne (Delaware County), PA, smashed a first-floor window of the home on Harrington Circle in Willingboro, and shot Catherine Nunez, 33, with whom he shares an 8-year-old son, and her mother, Marisol Nunez, 54, around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Willingboro Township Acting Public Safety Director Captain Ian Bucs said.
The women's bodies were found in an upstairs bedroom and a handgun was found outside of the house, Bradshaw said. Edwards and Nunez's son was home during the killings but unharmed, authorities said.
Edwards was arrested on unrelated charges in Philadelphia, where he was then served with warrants charging him with murder, home invasion burglary armed with a firearm, and weapons offenses.
Autopsies performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood determined the cause of death for both victims to be multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation is being conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Willingboro Township Police Department, with assistance from the FBI Trenton – Greater Safe Streets Task Force, the Lansdowne, Pa., Police Department, and the Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force. The lead investigators are BCPO Detectives Jennifer Marchese and Steven Trunfio, and Willingboro Detective Elijah Hart.
